Pat Kafka and Verlin Karpinski, students at Wisconsin State University, Stevens
Point, arrived here a week ago Tuesday for the semester break and will remain
until Sunday visiting at their respective homes.
A week ago yesterday Jeff Mathewson, Junior student at Stout, arrived here to
spend his semester break with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mathewson.
Friday evening Superintendent, M.G. Fritsch and Ernest Gay, Edward Potocnik,
Edgar Albert and J.H. Barager, members of the O-W Board of Education, returned
home from Milwaukee, where they had been since Wednesday attending the annual
convention of school administrators and board members. They were accompanied on
the trip by their wives.
The Leon Steinwands moved their household effects to Colby Saturday, where they
will make their future home.
Mrs. Caroline Candahl, Sam Anderson and daughter, Helga, and Jens Anderson and
Ethel Mae Riddlestein were dinner guests Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Chris Frost at Withee, where they helped Chris observe his birthday anniversary.
Mr. Robert Netzer returned home Saturday from St. Joseph’s Hospital at
Marshfield, where he had been confined since New Year’s Day.
St. Katherine’s Parish heard a guest speaker Sunday, the Rev. A Donald Davies,
professor of Christian Education Theological Seminary at Evanston and Sub-Dean
of Seabury Western Illinois.
Terry Woodbeck and Jean Barager enjoyed skiing Big Powderhorn, Bessemer,
Michigan last Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Prock of Eau Claire spent the weekend visiting their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Al Prock and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Burhop.
Friday of this week Shirley Jensen completes her first semester of student
practice teaching in the Minocqua schools. She returns to Madison where she is
enrolled for the second semester of study.
University of Wisconsin students home between semesters are Allen Krahn, Alice
Anderson, Jean and Jim Barager, Judy Miller, Nancy Brossow, Bill Montage, Robert
and Sandy Zelm, and Jane Beck.
