Dmytro, Cecilia (Szczesniak) (16 MAY 1933 - 23 OCT 2016)

Cecilia Dmytro, 83, formerly of Lublin, died Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the Bethel Nursing Home in Arpin.

She was born in Taylor County at her family home on May 16, 1933 to the late Savery and Regina (Bonczkiewicz) Szczesniak.

Cecilia was one of seven children and grew up on the family farm. She attended Clark Elementary School grades 1-8 and proceeded to Withee High School.

Following graduation she attended teachers college in Medford and continued further education at the University of Eau Claire where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. After acquiring her degree she taught at Lublin, Owen Withee, Redville and finally in Gilman where she retired in 1996 after 43 years of teaching.

Cecilia married William Dmytro on May 16, 1954 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. She was an avid seamstress and was also an excellent baker who prepared many holiday meals for her family. Cecilia was also an avid skier; teaching all of her grandchildren and hosting an annual event to have the entire family together for a weekend on the hill.

She is survived by her sons; Robert Dmytro of Watertown and David (Lisa) Dmytro of Wausau, daughter-in-law; Geraldine Dmytro of Perkinstown, her five grandchildren and six great grandchildren, Hillary (Dan) Tolzman and their children, Emma and William of Marshfield, Dustin (Sherri) Dmytro and their children, Clark and Claire of Gilman, Barry (Eric) Dmytro of Lublin, Stacy (Nick) Syryczuk and their children Henry and Jane and Brandi Dmytro of Minnesota.

She is further survived by her siblings, Jean (Frank) Collura of Milwaukee, Gertrude (Klayton) Micke of Appleton, Lorraine (James) Halpin of Coatesville, Penn. and Bernard (Fran) Szczesniak of Rosemount, Minn.

Cecilia is preceded in death by her husband, Bill (2014), her parents, son Jeff, a brother, Edward, and her sister, Dorothy (Richard) Krueger.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 28 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church-Thorp with Pastor Dan Vang officiating. Burial will follow in the East Side Cemetery-Thorp.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the Church. Plombon Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to the Gilman Schools for the readers are leaders program.
