Bean, Harold L. “Beaner” (16 JUL 1941 - 26 SEP 2016)
Harold L. “Beaner” Bean, 75, Marathon, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, under the
care of Ministry Hospice at his home surrounded by family.
He was born July 16, 1941, in Stratford, the son of the late Charles and Helen (Schwickerath)
Bean. On Dec. 5, 1964, he married Audrey, the daughter of the late Harvey and
Bernice Bohman at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Stratford. She preceded him in
death on April 6, 1998.
Harold proudly served four years in the United States Marine Corp. He began his
career in law enforcement as chief of police for Stratford followed by 30 plus
years with the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department retiring as a detective
sergeant. Harold and Audrey owned and operated Someplace Else in Edgar. He also
enjoyed working with great friends at Woodward Auctions and Wausau Sales.
Survivors include his children, Jeffrey (Carrie) Bean, Antigo, Gregory
(Michelle) Bean, Marathon, Connie (Dale) Frieders, Marathon, and Carrie (Chris)
Kaiser, Stratford. He was lucky enough to find a best friend and companion in
Karen George.
He is also survived by grandchildren, Cassandra Bean (fiancé Andy Seubert) and
Jessica Bean, Olivia and Alexis Frieders, and Betsy, Samantha, Bradley and
Audrey Kaiser; sisters-in-law, Joyce (Butch) Wojcik, Rosie Bean, Judy Bean and
Deb Chrouser; and a brother-in-law, Steve (Jackie) Bohman.
Besides Audrey and his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, William
“Neuman”, Donavan, Robert and Glenn Bean; and a brother-in-law, Larry Bohman.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, at Zion Lutheran
Church, 700 N. 2nd Avenue, Stratford. Pastor Sue Eidahl presided. Burial was in
St. Joseph Cemetery, Stratford. Visitation was held Wednesday, Sept. 28, from
4-8 p.m. and again on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service, all at
Zion Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established on behalf of Beaner.
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon, was in charge of arrangements.
