Kibbel, Marian (21 JUN 1920 – 26 OCT 2016)

Marian (Duchow) Kibbel, 96, Spencer, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Wednesday October 26, 2016.

The Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 109 West Clark Street, Spencer, on Saturday October 29, 2016. Rev. David DePaoli will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, North Spencer. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the time of the service Saturday at the church.

Marian was born on June 21, 1920 to John & Myrtle (Gunderson) Duchow.

Marian was united in marriage to Milen "Mike" Kibbel on May 15, 1943 and farmed in the town of Spencer until 1956 when they moved into the Village. From 1965 to 1973 she worked at Pathfinder Corporation, followed by Land O'Lakes until her retirement in 1982. Marian then achieved her GED, a goal that brought her and family great pride. As a member of Trinity Lutheran Church-Spencer, she served on the Ladies Aid and also was an organist and pianist. She loved baking many different treats and especially enjoyed using apples from her yard. She liked having garage sales and looked forward to playing cards with her friends. Music was very important in her life and she shared her talent of playing piano until just a few months ago. The beautiful quilts that she created and shared will be cherished by all that received them and for family they will be a treasure. Her greatest pleasure in life was her family and nothing brought her more joy than spending time with and supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marian is lovingly survived by her daughter; Karen Kovacic of Hudson, her son; Harlow (Nancy) Kibbel of Spencer, and daughter-in-law Carol Kibbel of Spencer. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; Christopher (Julie) Kovacic, Georgia, Shelley and Renee; David Kovacic, Johnathon, Joshua and Jeremy; Lori (Paul) Scray, Connor and Brianna; Lisa (Kenneth) Sharboneau, Kyle and Kayla; Mitchell (Laura) Kibbel, Meghan, Jenna, and Abigail Marian; Tiffany (Darnell) Leffel, Hayden, Jeaurdyn and Austin; Michael (Melody) Kibbel, Eva and Jacob. She is further survived by a brother, Marvin (Geraldine) Duchow and sister-in-law Hilda Duchow and nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband on July 24, 1979, son Larry on February 9, 2016, son-in-law, Tom Kovacic on October 3, 2010, brother; Rueben Duchow, parents and infant sister; Irene Duchow.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Golden Living Center-Three Oaks, and Hospice for the loving and compassionate care they provided Marian over the past 3 years and especially, in her final weeks. Memorials may be designated in her name to Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer, WI or to Alzheimer's research.

He will wipe every tear from their eye. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. (Revelation 21:4)

Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
