Rodman, Helen E. (Dorfschmidt) (6 DEC 1916 - 5 APR 2003)

Helen E. Rodman, 86, of Athens, died Saturday, April 05, 2003, at the House of the Dove, Marshfield.

Helen was born December 6, 1916, in the town of Frankfort, daughter of the late Carl and Ida (Fliehs) Dorfschmidt. She married Oscar Rodman in the spring of 1935. He preceded her in death in 1977.

Helen was a homemaker. Helen and Oscar farmed in the town of Frankfort for many years, and also owned and operated Rodman’s Bar in Edgar. Gardening, sewing and reading were among her favorite things to do.

Survivors include one son, Gene (Martha) Rodman, Edgar; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Judy Rodman, Athens; one brother, Edwin Dorfschmidt, Athens; one sisters, Evelyn Herrman, Colby; one brother-in-law, Merton Bennett, Unity; other relatives and friends.

Besides her husband Oscar, and her parents she was preceded in death by, one son, Robert Rodman; two sisters, Augusta Theilig, Esther Bennet; one brother, Raymond Dorfschmidt.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at St. John Lutheran Church, High Steeple, town of Wien. The Rev. Roger Moldenhauer will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens, and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
