LOYAL – Arthur Charles Behnke, 81, of 306 N. Thomas St., Loyal, died at 7:15
p.m. March 9, 1996, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the
Rev. Joseph Kraly officiating.
Burial will be in Loyal Lutheran Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his
grandsons, Dennis Roehl, Randy Guillaume, Joe Behnke, Ted Behnke and his
grandsons-in-law, Paul Brostowitz and Chris Harder.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Rinka Funeral Home and again from
10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.
He was born Oct. 15, 1914, in the town of Fremont to Helmuth and Gertrude (Bock)
Behnke, He married Velda Knoop on Oct. 24, 1935, in the town of Fremont. They
celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in Oct. 1995.
Mr. Behnke was educated at Pine Circle School in the town of Fremont. Following
his education, he farmed in the town of Fremont until 1951. He then moved to
West Allis and was employed at Safeway Scaffolding Co. and then Allis-Chalmers
Manufacturing until 1953. He returned to Loyal and farmed until 1970. He worked
off the farm at the Loyal Canning Co. until retiring in 1985. He enjoyed
gardening, fishing, hunting, and collecting old toy tractors. He was a member of
Trinity Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Velda Behnke of Loyal; one son, Kenneth (Mary Kay)
Behnke of Loyal; two daughters, Darlene Zinthefer of Marshfield and Velora
(Lowell) Roehl of Loyal; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one
brother, Harold (Dovie) Behnke of Milwaukee and two sisters, Lena Rozman of
Waukesha and Evelyn (Louis) Rozman of Milwaukee.
He was predeceased by his parents and by his son, Duane Behnke.
