LOYAL – Nelda Helen Voss, 79, of N9012 E. Island Road, Phillips, died at 12 p.m.
Oct. 9, 1997, at St. Joseph’s Hospital hospice home, House of the Dove, in
Marshfield.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rinka Funeral Home in Loyal. The
Rev. Gary Lodholz will officiate.
Burial will be in Loyal Lutheran Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Craig
Voss, James Voss, Steven Voss, Jeffrey Voss, Jerrold Voss, and Michael Voss.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and again from 9 a.m. until service
time Monday, both at the funeral home.
She was born July 10, 1918, in rural Neillsville to Alfred and Clara (Weiting)
Carl. She was married to Herbert Voss on Sept. 27, 1947 in Milwaukee.
Nelda was born and raised in the Neillsville area. She was educated in the
Lutheran school in Neillsville and Neillsville High School. After her education
she worked for three years in Milwaukee doing domestic work. She then moved back
to Neillsville to care for her mother. After her mother’s death, she worked in
restaurants in the Neillsville and Loyal areas. She then met and married her
husband. They farmed in rural Loyal until retiring in 1979. They remained on the
farm and after her husband’s death she continued to live on the farm until her
husband’s death. She continued to reside on the farm until 1981 when she moved
to Phillips. She resided in Phillips until May 1997 when she moved to Granton to
live with her son.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Phillips and the Sioux Lake
Snowmobile Club.
She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Voss of Neillsville and Wayne (JoAnn) Voss
of Granton; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; by her brother
Arnold (Florence) Carl of Neillsville; and by her sister-in-law of Selma Voss.
She was preceded in death by her husband in August 1987; her parents; and a
brother, Victor Carl.
