Gerald P. Majka of route 1, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), will sail for Europe this month for three months study abroad.

Sailing aboard the S.S. Aurelia August 19, 1967 will be 29 students from Wisconsin State University, River Falls, who will take part in the Study Abroad program.

During their quarter abroad, the students will live and study in one of seven countries: England, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Spain or Sweden.

The 29 students began preparations for the special program last spring by preparing topics of research in a Foreign Study Seminar conducted on campus and directed b Dr. Robert B. Bailey, chairman of the River Falls sociology department and director of the Study Abroad program. Assisting Dr. Bailey was Dr. Scot Muller, who gave instruction in art history.

The students will attend classes aboard ship and after arriving in Paris August 28, will spend a week there at the American Center for Students and Artists on the Left Bank. Following the week at the Center, the students will spend two weeks with European families in their chosen countries of study, before beginning formal research on their chosen topics.

The student will return to the River Falls campus in mid-November, in time to register for the winter quarter.

Majka, who will study in Sweden, has chosen as his topic, "Factor Affecting the Suicide Rate in Sweden."
