Klapel, Ruth (Kummerow) (2 APR 1911 - 5 MAR 2007)
Ruth Klapel, 95, Wausau, died Monday, March 5, 2007 at Wausau Manor Nursing
Home.
She was born April 2, 1911 in Marathon County, daughter of the late Herman and
Amanda (Wilde) Kummerow. On June 18, 1941, she married Walter Klapel at Emmanuel
Lutheran Church, Rib Falls. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2004.
Ruth was a graduate of Wausau East High School and Marathon County Normal
School. She taught on an elementary level in Marathon County for 13 years. Among
her many interests, she enjoyed reading, gardening, needlework, sewing,
reminiscing and was noted for her baking. She was a member of the St. John
Ladies Aid.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Helen Kummerow, Schofield; and many nieces,
nephews and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Walter, she was preceded in death by two
sisters, Sylvia Woller and Loretta Behnke; and one brother, Leonard Kummerow.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007 at St. John Ev.
Lutheran Church, Rib Falls. Rev. Terry Reich will officiate. Burial will be in
the church cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of
services at the church.
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau is in charge of
arrangements.
