Schwoch, Phyllis (Hein) (20 DEC 1929 - 30 OCT 2016)

Phyllis Schwoch, of Fall Creek, died on Oct. 30, 2016 at the Fall Creek Valley Center of Care.

She was born on December 20, 1929 to Eugene and Elsa (Tetzlaff) Hein on a farm two miles east of Rib Lake.

She received her elementary school education in a two room country school and graduated from Rib Lake High School in 1947. After further schooling at Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minn., she taught in parochial schools in Golden, Colo. and Hustisford.

Then she married her high school sweetheart, Karl Schwoch, on July 28, 1951 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rib Lake. After Karl returned from military service in the Korean War in 1953, they settled in Fall Creek, where they raised their three sons.

In addition to being primarily a homemaker, she was active in St. Paul's Lutheran Church teaching sunday school, vacation bible school, confirmation, LWML activities, library, and altar guild. After doing substitute teaching at Fall Creek Elementary School, she was employed full time there as a teacher's aide for 15 years. She and Karl organized Red Cross Blood Mobiles and volunteered for Orphan Grain Train activities for several years.

Survivors include her husband, Karl; sons, Gary (Wanda) of Menomonie, Steve of Orlando, Fla. and Klark of Winona, Minn; two granddaughters, Morgan, of Milwaukee and Fallon, of Yankton, S.D. both of whom are pursuing careers in medicine.

Preceding her in death are her parents; a brother, Calvin Hein of Medford; and an infant daughter, Lorelei Elsa of Fall Creek.

Rather than flowers, Phyllis would prefer memorials be given to the donor's favorite charity or to hers which was Orphan Grain Train, Norfolk, Nebraska.

Phyllis wants us to know she'll be waiting the Savior's return on the Last Day, when Jesus will raise her body from the dead, glorify it, and reunite it with her soul so that she can live with Him in glory forever.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 721 S. State St., Fall Creek, with Pastor Carlton Kangas officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place after the service at Trinity Cemetery in Fall Creek.
