Pieper, Darlene I. (11 MAR 1935 – 10 NOV 2016)
Darlene I. Pieper, 81, Loyal, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, at Wanda’s
Elderly Care in Marsh- field. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Monday,
Nov. 14, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal. Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiated.
Burial followed in the Loyal Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandsons:
Damon Pieper, Derek Pieper, Dustin Pieper, Jamey Young, Jeremy Young, Caleb
Young and Jace Young.
Darlene Ida Kramer was born on March 11, 1935, in the town of Holton, Marathon
County, rural Abbotsford, the daughter of Richard C. and Annie J. (nee Peterson)
Kramer. She was raised on her family’s farm and received her education in the
Unity area. Darlene married Delmar A. Pieper on June 14, 1952, at Trinity
Lutheran Church in Unity. They farmed and raised their family in the town of
Unity, rural Loyal, until Delmar’s death on Feb. 18, 1993. Darlene sold the farm
and moved to Loyal, where she resided until moving to Wanda’s Elderly Care in
Marshfield, on Nov. 2, 2014. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the
Loyal American Legion Auxiliary, and a former member of the Clark County
Homemakers. Darlene had many interests, but especially loved spending time with
her family, playing cards, baking, canning, gardening, and in her younger years,
playing horseshoes.
She will be dearly missed by her children: Deb (Jim) Young of Loyal, Dave (Mary
Jo) Pieper of Loyal, Dale (MaryAnn) Pieper of Medford, Doug Pieper of
Marshfield, Dean (Viki) Pieper of Loyal, and Danny Pieper of Loyal; 16
grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister: Roslyn Spatz of Loyal; and
several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delmar; one son,
Dennis, on Nov. 11, 2012; two granddaughters: Jyllian Pieper on Jan. 4, 2004,
and Morgan Pieper on June 25, 2015; two brothers: Norman and Earl Kramer; and
three sisters: Bernice Bronski, Caroline Decker and Celia Henne.
Darlene’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Wanda, at Wanda’s
Elderly Care, for the compassion and loving care that she gave Darlene during
her stay there.
