Hildebrandt, Lawrence D. “Butch” (27 October 1939 – 10 November 2016) With Flag

Lawrence D. “Butch” Hildebrandt, 77, Chili, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, at Atrium Post-Acute Care in Marshfield after a courage five-year battle with Progressive Supra Nuclear Palsy.

Lawrence was born Oct. 27, 1939, in the Township of Fremont, Clark County, the son of Lawrence J. and Anne (Jansen) Hildebrandt. He attended Grant Elementary School in the Town of Fremont and Marshfield Senior High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves serving from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1964.

He was married to Jo V. McNaul April 4, 1959 in Neillsville. Butch has been a dairy farmer for 30 years and, also, was employed by Oscar Hildebrandt Construction, Wisconsin Homes and Chili Implement.

He was a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Chili. After its closing, Butch and his son Brian built the chapel at the location of the former church. At present, he was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. He was also a member and past president of the Chili-Fremont Fire Department and a member and past president of the Chili Lions Club. He enjoyed woodworking, snowmobiling, bowling, hunting, camping and casinos.

Butch is survived by his wife, Jo, and their children: Kim (Greg) Lynn of Unity, Lori Blasini of Atlanta, GA, and Nancy (Tom) Huray of Little Chute. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Ashley Hildebrandt, Derick (Tiffany Davis) Hildebrandt, Alexis Hildebrandt, Kyle Lynn, Brett Lynn, Tyler (Savana) Lynn, Jennifer (Alfred) Zamora, Antonio Blasini, Kayla Huray, Danielle (Mathew Pena) Huray, Shannon Huray and Kendra Huray; and eight great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters: Terry Akkerman of Wisconsin Rapids, Karen (Dale) Krasselt of Chili and Margaret “Peg” (David) Grimm of Arpin; and his brothers: James (Barbara) Hildebrandt of Stevens Point, Joseph (Nancy) Hildebrandt and Michael (Ruth) Hildebrandt, all of Chili, and Thomas Hildebrandt of Marshfield; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Anne Hildebrandt; a son, Brian L. Hildebrandt; a brother, Charles “Chuck” Hildebrandt; and his in-laws, Burdett and Virginia McNaul.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield, where the visitation will be held from 9 a.m. Wednesday until service time. Rev. Eric Berns will officiate and military rites will be conducted at the church, following the service by the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield. Serving as pallbearers will be grandchildren: Antonio Blasini, Derick Hildebrandt, Kyle Lynn, Brett Lynn, Tyler Lynn and Matthew Pena. Burial will take place in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Chili, at a later date.
