Tlusty, Leon V. (14 APR 1927 - 23 SEP 2012)

Leon V. Tlusty, age 85, of 610 Billings Ave., Medford, passed away on Sunday, September 23, at his home in the city of Medford, under the loving care of his family and Hope Hospice.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 26 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiating.

Interment will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Medford.

Visitation will be at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford from 4-8 PM Tuesday, September 25 where there will be a 7:45 PM Rosary/Prayer service held that evening; and also from 9 AM until 10:30 AM on Wednesday, Sept. 26.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Trigg and Trent Thielke, Statt and Tyler Lemke, Ethan Lewis, Michael, Kyle, Ben, Judd, Craig, Cory, Brady and Jack Tlusty.

Leon was born on April 14, 1927, in the Township of Chelsea, Taylor County, to Ferdinand and Teckla (Reinhart) Tlusty.

He attended Winding Brook Elementary School, Whittlesey and was a 1944 graduate of Medford High School.

On January 21, 1950, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Whittlesey, he married Bernice Fleischmann. She survives.

Leon drove semi and route truck for Tlusty Beverage until 1954 when he started working for the Medford branch of the Marshfield Oil Company. He purchased the Medford branch in 1969, starting Tlusty Oil Co. and retiring in 1996. He also drove school bus part time for Krug Bus Service and shuttle truck for Tombstone Pizza Corp. He enjoyed spending time with his entire family, hunting, playing cards with his sons, grandsons and friends.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford; past member of the Medford Curling Club.

Leon is survived by his wife, Bernice Tlusty of Medford; children Linda (Tom) Thielke of Phillips, Dave (Jeanne) Tlusty of Antigo, Don (Beth) Tlusty of Arbor Vitae, Tom (Becky) Tlusty of Medford, Carol Tlusty of Medford, Chuck (Kristi) Tlusty of Medford, Kaye (Mike) Lewis of Blaine, MN, Karla Tlusty of Eden Prairie, MN; grandchildren Anne (Scott) DeFoe, Erinn (Phil) Tubbs, Trigg (Linda) Thielke, Trent (Terri) Thielke, Emily (Andrew) Kennell, Michael, Kyle and Katie Tlusty, Ben (Briea Pfaller) Tlusty, Judd Tlusty, Craig (Jessica) Tlusty, Carissa (Travis) Sobeck, Cory (Julie) Tlusty, Statt (Megan Dassow) Lemke, Tyler (Nelly Woller) Lemke, Rachel (Eric) Vach, Brady and Jack Tlusty, Claire, Ethan and Paige Lewis; and 17 great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his siblings, Richard Tlusty of Merrill; sisters-in-law, Margaret Tlusty of Medford and Betty Tlusty of Chelsea.

Leon is predeceased by his parents, Ferdinand Teckla (Reinhart) Tlusty; son Patrick Tlusty on June 27, 1986; siblings George, Ernest, Lawrence, Walter, Allen, Franklin, and infant sister Loretta Tlusty

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to either Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford or Hope Hospice of Medford.
