Erickson, Stella (14 JUL 1891 – 6 OCT 1967)
Mrs. Melvin Erickson, a resident of the Longwood (Clark Co., Wis.) community for
30 years prior to moving to South Bend, Indiana, where she had made her home for
the past 10 years with a daughter, succumbed to a long lingering illness when
she passed away at 7:15 Friday evening.
Final rites were conducted Monday morning at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church,
Owen, with Father H.L. Crubel officiating. Buirla was made in St. Mary's
Cemetery at Greenwood.
Serving as pallbearers were Art Smasal, John Zawadski, John Greschner, John
Bonzyk, Joe Micke and Wm. Warns.
Mrs. Erickson, nee Stella Masters, was born July 14, 1891 at Greenwood. She was
educated in the Greenwood school system and attended Stevens Point and Oshkosh
State Teachers College, and then taught school for several years prior to her
marriage. Her fist marriage was to Thomas Coan Jr., on June 24, 1915. He
preceded her in death, passing away November 7, 1918. On June 30, 1922 she was
united in marriage to Melvin Erickson at Greenwood, and her too preceded her in
death, passing away May 22, 1957.
Mourning her passing are a daughter, Mrs. Louis (Elizabeth) Gruszynski, South
Bend, Indiana; a son, Emery Erickson, Owen; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Ketchpaw, St.
Louis, Missouri, and Mrs. Johnson, Kenosha; a brother, Roy Masters, Milwaukee;
three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
