Brahmer, Bernadine “Bernie” (Scheithauer) (16 OCT 1929 - 16 OCT 2012)
Bernadine “Bernie” Brahmer, age 83, of W777 County Road M, Rib Lake, passed away
on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at the Medford Nursing and Rehab Center, Medford,
where she had resided for the past 3 months, under the care of Aspirus Comfort
Care and Hospice.
Her funeral mass will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 22 at Our Lady of
Perpetual Help, Whittlesey, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joseph
Stefancin officiating. Interment will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery in the Town of
Greenwood, Taylor County, Wisconsin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Renea Henke; Mindy Brahmer; Melanie Annala and
Nicole Schreiner; Active pallbearers will be Ashley Schreiner; Todd, Michael;
Kurt, Derek Brahmer and Tyler Henke.
Visitation will be at 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Sunday October 21 at Our Lady of
Perpetual Help, Whittlesey where there will be a 6:45 P.M. Prayer Service and
also from 9:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. Monday, October 22 at the church.
Bernie was born on October 16, 1929 in Interwald, Wisconsin, to Joseph E. and
Marcella (Jarchow) Scheithauer.
She attended Green Grove Grade School.
On June 25, 1947, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, Bernie married
Chester Brahmer, and he survives.
After school she moved to Minnesota and worked at a bakery for a few years. She
then moved back to the Interwald area. Chet and Bernie were then married and
owned and operated Chet and Bernie’s Tavern for 55 years until her retirement in
November 2008. She also worked for various businesses in the Medford area.
Bernie enjoyed playing softball, fishing and ice fishing, bowling, camping,
snowmobiling, spending time at the lake, playing and listening to music,
cribbage, playing cards, spending time with her family and friends.
She is a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Whittlesey; past member of The
Little Bohemia Women’s Bowling League; bowling for Chet and Bernie’s Bar; Played
Women’s Softball for Chet and Bernie’s Bar; and The Interwald Wanderers
Snowmobile Club and the Taylor County Tavern League.
Bernie is survived by her husband, Chester “Chet” Brahmer of Rib Lake for 66
years; children Duane “Butch” (Beverly) Brahmer; and Gerald (LaNah) Brahmer,
both of Medford; and Gregory (Lorraine) Brahmer of Rib Lake; and Brenda (Robert
“Butch”) Schreiner of Athens; 9 grandchildren, Renea (Monty) Henke; Todd (Katie)
Brahmer; Mindy (Corey Penney) Brahmer; Melanie (Anthony) Annala; Michael
(Amanda) Brahmer; Kurt Brahmer; Derek Brahmer; Nicole Schreiner and Ashley
Schreiner; and 11 great grandsons.
She is also survived by siblings, Joseph (Marcella) Scheithauer of Medford; Ken
(Gerri) Scheithauer of Medford; Herbert (Ruth) Scheithauer of Rib Lake; Allen
(Linda) Scheithauer of Rib Lake; and Dennis (Kathy) Scheithauer of Rib Lake;
Vera Hoffman of Sheboygan; Alice (James) Smola of Rib Lake; Durana Asleson of
Milwaukee; and Barbara Steinman of Fond du Lac; sisters-in-law Laverne
Scheithauer; and Delores Scheithauer, both of Medford.
Bernie is predeceased by her parents, Joseph E. and Marcella (Jarchow)
Scheithauer; and siblings, Marvin and Robert “Bob” Scheithauer; sister-in-law
Beth Scheithauer; and brother-in-law Lavern Hoffman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Bernie’s family to be designated at
a later date.
Hemer Funeral Homes of Rib Lake and Medford is assisting the family with
arrangements.
