Emily M. Fink, 87, Athens, died Thursday, June 13, 2013 at St. Joseph's
Hospital, Marshfield.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at
St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial
will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Athens.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer
Funeral Home, Athens and again on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of
services at the church. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday
evening at the funeral home.
She was born October 22, 1925 in Goodrich, Wis., daughter of the late James and
Magdelina (Kohout) Smola. On November 6, 1943, she married Wilfred Fink at St.
Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. He preceded her in death on August 20, 2003.
Emily worked as a cook for the Athens High School for many years, until her
retirement. One of her favorite pastime was crocheting rugs, and she also
enjoyed flower gardening, listening to polka music, dancing and going out to
Royal Gates in Goodrich for a senior dinner and to visit with friends. She also
loved to travel, and one of her most memorable trips was to Czechoslovakia.
Survivors include, three daughters, Sue (David) Belter, Athens, Patti (Michael)
Knab, Merrill and Nancy (Rick) Ewan, Athens; three sons, Dennis Fink, Athens,
John (JoAnn) Fink, Wausau and Ed (Karla) Fink, Athens; 30 grandchildren; 46
great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law,
Bernice Fink, Woodruff.
Besides her parents and husband, Wilfred, she was preceded in death by one
grandson, Scott Knab; one infant granddaughter, Lynn Belter; one great-grandson,
Aydn Peel; and six siblings, George Smola Sr., Ann Oast, Barbara Kemp, Josephine
Kropp, Bessie Kropp and Edward Smola.
