Hoffmann, Vera M. (Scheithauer) (14 APR 1933 - 2 SEP 2013)
Vera M. Hoffmann, age 80, of 3014 Erie Avenue, Sheboygan, a former Town of
Spirit and Antigo Resident, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2013 at the
Sunny Ridge Health and Rehab Center, Sheboygan, where she had resided for the
past 4 years, while under the care of Hospice Advantage and surrounded by her
loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, September 7 at St. Peter Ev.
Lutheran Church, Rib Lake, with Pastor Dave Karolus officiating. Interment will
be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Town of Spirit.
Pallbearers will be Rick and Chris Drews, David and Jeff Majewski, Scott and
Andrew Renn, Bobby Reklau and Bill Nisporic.
Visitation will be at 10:30 A.M. until the time of services at 1:30 P.M.
Saturday, September 7 at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church, Rib Lake.
Vera was born on April 14, 1933 at Interwald, Taylor County, to Joseph and
Marcella B. (Jarchow) Scheithauer.
She attended Green Grove Grade School.
Vera was married in1951 to Vernon Reimann, they later divorced. She married
again on November 2, 1973, at the Golden Living Center, Rib Lake, to Lavern H.
Hoffmann. He preceded her in death on November 17, 2004.
Vera worked in housekeeping at the Memorial Health Center, Medford for a number
of years. She then was a school bus driver for the Antigo School District for 25
years until her retirement. She was an avid hunter and fisherwoman. Vera enjoyed
sewing crocheting, making quilts and baptismal gowns. She also enjoyed her
flowers, gardening and baking. Vera will always be known for her molasses
cookies with the pink frosting and her poppy seed cake. She was a wonderful
mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter and sister. Vera was a member
of Peace Lutheran Church, Antigo.
She is survived by her children, Yvonne Drews of Sheboygan; Elaine Reimann of
Antigo; Sheila (Bobby) Reklau of Three Lakes; Juli (Bill) Nisporic of Sheboygan;
Barbara Reimann of Antigo; and Rita (Scott) Renn of Tomahawk; 20 grandchildren,
17 great grandchildren; siblings Joseph (Marcella) Scheithauer of Medford; Ken
(Gerri) Scheithauer of Medford; Herbert (Ruth) Scheithauer of Rib Lake; Allen
(Linda) Scheithauer of Rib Lake; Dennis (Cathy) Scheithauer of Rib Lake; Alice
(James) Smola of Rib Lake; Durana Asleson of Milwaukee; and Barbara Steinman of
Fond du Lac.
She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Laverne Scheithauer and Delores
Scheithauer both of Medford; brother-in-law, Chet Brahmer of Medford.
Vera is predeceased by her husband, Lavern H. Hoffmann; her parents, Joseph and
Marcella B. (Jarchow) Scheithauer; child Vernon in infancy; son-in-law, Thomas
Drews; siblings Marvin and Robert “Bob” Scheithauer; Bernie Brahmer;
sister-in-law, Beth Scheithauer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Vera’s family to be designated at a
later date. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at
Sunny Ridge Nursing and Rehab, Sheboygan, especially Sandy B. for all of their
care and compassion for our mother.
