Scholtz, Kay F. (14 AUG 1959 – 25 NOV 2016)

Kay F. Scholtz, 57, Sherwood, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016 from complications of ovarian cancer at House of the Dove, Marshfield.

A time of reflection will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Buchanan / Rembs Funeral Home, Pittsville, where the visitation will be held from 9:30 am until service time.

Kay Francis Scholtz was born Aug 14th, 1959 in Neillsville, Wisconsin, to Earl and Olga (Kewatt) Moeller.

Kay married Mike Evans at Henderson, IL, in 1977, and they lived on the Evans Cranberry Marsh near City Point. Mike passed away in 1978, leaving her widowed with their five week old son, Paul. She then married Tom Scholtz in 1980 at Neillsville and they made their home in Sherwood.

Kay graduated from Pittsville High School in 1977 and found her first employment at Rollohome, and then Agri-View at Marshfield where she designed ads. Later she worked for Lady Bug IPM, and Ocean Spray Cranberries at Babcock for many years. Kay held town office of Treasurer for Sherwood Township for many years.

She enjoyed doing genealogy research for family and was a volunteer for Clark County helping many find their roots in the local area. Kay loved to paint wildlife scenes and photograph them. She also endeavored in writing about local history and enjoyed collecting antiques. She was the author of 4 books, numerous poems and short stories and a nature blog. She loved to spend time with family and travel, Lake Superior's south shore was one of her favorite visits.

Kay was extremely appreciative of her only son's ambitions and the fact that he was a first generation college student. Paul and his wife, Kristin, and grandson, Liam were the apples of her eye! Her favorite pastime, second only to spending time with family, was enjoying nature in all seasons at the home place in Sherwood she loved so much ... A home that was carved out of the woods, literally, by her husband and best friend, Tom.

Kay is survived by her husband, Tom; son, Paul, & daughter-in-law, Kristin Evans and a grandson, Liam of Marshfield; sister, Marla (Ron) Martin, Sherwood; brothers Kent (Joy) Moeller of rural Pittsville; Lynn Moeller, Sherwood; and Les (Kelly) Moeller , Sherwood. She is also survived by brothers-in-law, Wayne (Teri) Scholtz of Eau Claire, and Steve (Tracy) Scholtz of Strum, and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, first husband, Mike, and brothers Vern and Dennis Moeller.
