Domine, Edward Jr. (26 DEC 1930 – 19 NOV 2016)

Edward J. Domine Jr., 85, Loyal, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at the home of his granddaughter, Ashley, in La Crosse. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 2, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal. Rev. Steve Brice will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Loyal American Legion Post #175. There will be no visitation prior to the service.

Edward John Domine Jr. was born on Dec. 26, 1930, in Loyal, to Edward J. Sr. and Eleanor (nee Schuld) Domine. He was raised on the family farm south of Loyal, and attended Mack School. His family later moved into Loyal, where he attended St. Anthony Catholic School and graduated from Loyal High School in 1949. Ed was drafted into the U.S. Army on May 24, 1951, and served during the Korean War until May 14, 1953. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Loyal and married Ardith M. Wolfe on July 1, 1953, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. They moved to Milwaukee where he worked as a gear cutter for the Falk Corporation. In 1963, they purchased the Ever Breeze Resort on Pike Lake, near Park Falls, which they operated until 1968. They sold the resort and moved back to Loyal. Ed worked for a short time at Pathfinder Homes in Spencer, and then went to work at Land O' Lakes in Spencer, where he worked for 27 years, retiring in 1997. They continued to reside in Loyal until moving to Marshfield in 2014 and then to La Crosse to live with their granddaughter, Ashley, in October 2016. Ed had many interests, but especially loved spending time with his family, deer and squirrel hunting, fishing, and taking short trips. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Loyal American Legion Post #175.

Ed will be dearly missed by his wife, Ardith, of La Crosse; one granddaughter: Ashley (Orey) Eckes and their two children, Easton and Dekker Eckes, of La Crosse; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: one daughter: Tracy R. Domine on May 8, 2008; three sisters: Helen Schwellenbach, Verna Shupe and Evelyn Shober; and four brothers: Art, Franklin, Manuial "Stub", and Lawrence Domine.
