Making their home in Minneapolis are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Geffre, who were
married at Basilica of St. Mary's Church in Minneapolis on Saturday, October
7th, 1967 at two o'clock in the afternoon. The former Jeanette Ruth Laabs of
Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) and Mr. Charles James Geffre, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph
Geffre of Lindsay, Ohio, were united in marriage by Father Coleman and the Rev.
D.F. Blenkush. Music was rendered by the church vocalist and organist.
When given in marriage by her father, the bride approached the altar in a white
satin wedding gown with floor length empire styled bodice fashioned with a
scooped neckline, elbow length sleeves and a bow which accented the empire front
skirt A-line panel, which opened to a panel of lace down the center of the
skirt. The same re-embroidered lace edged the neckline. A bouffant train was
attached to the back and flowed into a train. Her headpiece was a pillbox, from
which flowed an elbow length veil. Her flowers were red roses, accented with
pink formed into a rocker fellow bouquet.
The bridesmaid of honor was Miss Helen Wolf of Minneapolis, and bridesmaids were
Mrs. Gaymond Laabs of Owen and Mrs. Teresa Erickson of Minneapolis.
They were attired in matching royal blue brocaded gowns of floor length with
empire style bodice, scooped neckline, elbow length sleeves and A-line skirt.
The inverted pleat matched the bride's gown and was fashioned with a bow in
back. Their small rock carnations accented with blue.
Serving as ushers were Marlyn Laabs and Joseph Geffre Jr.
Wedding events included a dinner following the ceremony at the Prince of Glory
Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, and a reception and dance at the American Legion
Hall in Minneapolis.
The bride is a 1963 graduate of the Owen-Withee Public Schools and has been
employed at the American Gas Company in St. Paul.
The groom graduated the same year from Lindsay High School in Lindsay, Oklahoma,
and is employed at Honeywell in Minneapolis.
