Erickson, Mr./Mrs. Alfred M. (Gold – 7 NOV 1967)
An open house was held at 5 p.m., Saturday, November 11, 1967, was the occasion
for celebrating the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred M. Erickson,
Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.).
The celebration took place in the St. Paul Lutheran Church Parish Hall at
Curtiss and about 300 relatives, friends and neighbors greeted the couple. Among
them was a brother of Mr. Erickson, Cornel Erickson of Curtiss, who was one of
the attendants when Alfred Erickson and the former Laura J. Geary were married
on November 7, 1917, by the Rev. H.P. Nordby at Abbotsford.
Mrs. Erickson had a corsage of yellow and rust chrysanthemums and her husband a
yellow boutonniere. Until retirement in 1961, Mr. Erickson was a cashier at the
Owen-Curtiss State Bank, a position he began in 1927. He and his wife are
members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Both enjoy good health and he still
pursues his hobby, that of fishing.
Mr. and Mrs. Erickson are the parents of two children, Dr. John M. Erickson, a
professor at St. Cloud State College, St. Cloud, Minnesota, and Mrs. H.J.
(Ethel) Wardwell, receptionist at St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse. There are
six grandchildren
Mr. Erickson was born in Curtiss on March 13, 1893, and his wife on November 7,
1897, at Chaseburg. Their parents were Iver and Helen Erickson and John A. and
Mathilda Geary. He received his education at Midway Grade School, Owen High
School and Eau Claire Business School. Mrs. Erickson attended schools at
Chaseburg.
