Hart, Katherine "Katie" (Bargender) (8 NOV 1924 - 17 JAN 2010)
Katherine "Katie" Hart, 85, Athens, died Sunday, January 17, 2010 under the
compassionate care of the palliative unit at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Holy
Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral
Home, Athens and again on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at
the church. There will be a parish prayer service Wednesday 7:00 p.m. at the
Athens funeral home.
She was born November 8, 1924 in town of Frankfort, daughter of the late Joseph
and Marie (Ellenbecker) Bargender. On October 10, 1945 she married Cletus Hart
at St. John Catholic Church, Wuertzburg. He preceded her in death.
Katherine was a homemaker who also worked at Weyerhaeuser for 18 years. Katie
was a loving mother whose strong faith guided her daily life. She enjoyed
gardening, puzzles, playing cards, gambling, sewing and making home cooked
meals. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren will always remember the
"cookie jar" and the many family gatherings at grandma's house.
Survivors include her children, Dennis (Bev) Hart, Donald Hart, Carol (Mark)
Wisnewski, all of Athens, Karen (Dave) Benna, Muskego, Linda (Steve) Drewek,
Redding, Calif., Frank (Denise) Hart, David (Chris ) Hart, both of Athens, Mary
(Dave) Hanke, Edgar, Ervin Hart, Laurie (Donald) Miller, Mike (Kelly) Hart, and
Rodney (Liz) Hart, all of Athens; 22 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren,
three brothers, Urban (Arlene) Bargender, Lawrence (Beth) Bargender and Clarence
(Shirley) Bargender, all of Edgar; special friend and aunt, Rosalyn (Joe) Boser,
Marathon; one brother-in-law, Glenn Greiner, Edgar and many nieces, nephews,
relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Cletus, she was preceded in death by two
sisters, Bernadine (Virgil) Schlais and Elaine Bargender, three sister-in-laws,
Mabel (Dan) Remza, Lorraine (Ralph) Greiner, Laverne Greiner.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
