Donald A. Kreft, 88, Athens, died Friday, September 24, 2010 at Aspirus Wausau
Hospital.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at
St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. The Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial
will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 - 7:30 p.m.
at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m.
until the time of services at the church.
He was born May 18, 1922 in Athens, son of the late Cyril and Catherine
(Schmidt) Kreft. On December 27, 1944 he married Theresa Weiler in Athens. She
preceded him in death.
Donald worked as a farmer, retiring in 1970. He then worked for Burger
Construction and J.J. Security. In his spare time enjoyed doing crosswords,
reading the paper, watching sports, playing cards and having coffee with the
guys.
Survivors include his children, Duane (Sherri) Kreft, Marathon, Barbara (John)
Adams, Merrill and Gail (Larry) Kretschmer, Athens; grandchildren, Jodie (Chad)
Bacon and Carnissa, Miranda and Bronson, Tammy (Greg) Haas and Brittany, Tim (Amii)
Kreft and Connor, Ryan Adams, Kali (Andy) Storm, Kara Adams and Kyleigh, Steven
Kretschmer, Joseph Kretschmer, Gina Kretschmer and Tristan and Michele (Michael)
Koss and Taylor, Kassie and Michael Jr.; son-in-law, Orlando Schmitt, Wausau;
two sisters, Vivian Mroczinski and Joyce Ann Kreft.
Besides his parents and wife, Theresa, he was preceded in death by a daughter,
Charlene Schmitt, a brother, Jerome Kreft and a sister, Rita Waluk.
