Seidel, Bernard “Ben” J. (21 SEP 1944 - 25 SEP 2011)

Bernard “Ben” J. Seidel, age 67, died on Sunday, September 25 at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital where he had been a patient for the past 5 days.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 29, at11:00 a.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joseph Stefancin officiating. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Medford.

Pallbearers are Tom Grundy, Richard Kaye, Dennis Koch, Dale Ludwig, Don Wibben and Ray Henrichs.

Hemer Funeral Services of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.

Bernard Seidel was born on September 21, 1944, in Marshfield, to the late Bernard Edward and Frances Monica (Bohte) Seidel. He attended Westboro Elementary School and a graduate of Westboro High School. He helped at his family’s grocery store in Westboro.

On August 20, 1966, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, he married Donna M. Sperl, who survives.

He was the meat cutter/manager at Copp’s Corp. from 1967 to 2004, then was a meat cutter for County Market, Medford for the last 6 years until his retirement in May 2011.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed camping, bowling, mowing lawn, snow blowing, trips to the casino traveling and most of all spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, survivors include five children, Mark (significant other: Kristi Sullivan) of Eau Claire, Scott (Jeni) Seidel of Wausau, twins: Ricky (Kelly) Seidel of Stoughton and Robby (Carrie) Seidel of Stetsonville and Susan (Jason) Klingbeil of Medford; two sisters Patricia (Richard) Makovec of Neenah and Kathleen (James) Callear of Elizabeth, PA; 13 grandchildren Conner, Cooper and Carter Klingbeil, Meredith, Francine, Vincent, Anthony, Greta, Delaney, Teagan, Julia and Isaac Seidel and Kala Catlin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Ben’s family to be designated at a later date.
