Peterson, Irene V. (Poppy) (15 OCT 1926 - 27 NOV 2016)
Irene V. Peterson, age 90, of Owen, WI, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, in
Marshfield, WI, on Sunday, November 27, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Cuddie
Funeral Home, in Loyal, WI, with Deacon Edward Kerr officiating. Burial will
follow in the Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery in Curtiss, WI.
Visitation will be held at Cuddie Funeral Home, on Saturday, from 11am until
time of service.
Irene Violet Poppy was born on October 15, 1926 in the Town of Richfield, Wood
County, WI, the daughter of Johann Ferdinand and Elsie Amelia Sophia (Karsten)
Poppy. She was raised on the family farm and received her education in the Town
of Richfield. Irene was united in marriage to George Clayton Peterson on March
12, 1967 at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Sparta, WI. They lived in several towns,
before moving to Owen, WI in 1980. Her husband, George, died on February 10,
1987. Irene lived in Owen until the time of her death.
She had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family and
friends, watching birds and animals of all kinds, dancing, traveling, and Polka
music.
Irene is survived by three children: Carrie (William) Schultz of Sparta, WI,
George C. Peterson, Jr. of Owen, WI; Ronald D. Peterson of Owen, WI; 5
grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; two sisters,
Elnora Schroeder and Doris Resler; and one brother, John Poppy.
