Baeseman, Joan Elizabeth (Wagner) (2 JUL 1939 - 10 JUL 2010)
Joan Elizabeth Baeseman 71, Edgar died peacefully in her home on Saturday, July
10, 2010.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at St.
John Catholic Church, Edgar. The Rev. Robert Streveler will preside. Visitation
will be from 3:30 p.m. until the time of services at the church.
Joan was born on July 2nd, 1939 in Edgar, Wisconsin, daughter of the late George
and Margaret (Fischer) Wagner the youngest of ten children. Joan married her
high school sweetheart, Arden F. Baeseman on November 12th, 1959 at St. John
Catholic Church in Edgar. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Arden
survives.
Joan was a graduate of St. John Catholic Grade School and was the Salutatorian
of Edgar High School Class of 1957. Additionally, she attended Viterbo College
in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
In her life, Joan devoted countless hours to various charity and service
organizations including the American Red Cross, St. John's Catholic Church
Religious Education, Edgar Area Trails System, and the Edgar Historical Society.
One of Joan's favorite projects in recent years was her work on the Edgar
Centennial Committee and she will be remembered fondly for the many articles
that she wrote for the Record Review on the "History of Edgar" during the
centennial year. Joan often spoke about her deep love for her community and the
Village of Edgar. She felt that everyone needed to do what they could to better
their communities. Joan also loved her family a great deal and especially
enjoyed spending time with and hearing stories about her many grandchildren and
great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Arden, she is survived by her two daughters Kim
Ninabuck (Scott), Birnamwood, Jody Baeseman (Steve Schlei), Wausau; five sons
Arden Fredrick, Jr. (Cara) and Richard, both of Edgar, Scott (D.R. Smith, Jr.),
Highland Park, Illinois, Aaron (Sommer), Edgar, and Zachary (Rebecca), Appleton;
14 grandchildren: Mollie Jo Baeseman, Mitchell Baeseman, Cody Heidmann, Kyla
Baeseman, Atticus Ninabuck, Stuart Ninabuck, Alexandria (Lexie) Wesolowski, Eric
Wesolowski, Bradley Hornung, David Hornung, Mattea Baeseman, Stella
Baeseman-Smith, Margaret (Mimi) Baeseman-Smith, and Ashlynn Baeseman; and two
great-grandchildren Mallory Ninabuck and Cassius Ninabuck.
She is also survived by five siblings: George Wagner (Ann), Valparaiso, Florida,
Eunice Tess, Edgar, Sister Margaret Wagner, FSPA, LaCrosse, Dolores Gohdes
(Paul), Tucson, Arizona and Daniel Wagner (Joan), Blaine, Minnesota.
Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Chrysanthemum
and Michaela; two brothers, Roman Wagner and Jerry Wagner; and two sisters Marie
McWatters, and Germaine Zweck.
Peterson-Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar, is in charge of arrangements.
