Bryan, Wayne Eugene (26 March 1937 – 3 December 2016)

Wayne Bryan, Sr., 79, of Neillsville died Saturday Dec. 3, 2016, surrounded by his loving family, at his home on Columbia Ave.

Wayne Eugene Bryan was born March 26, 1937, in Black River Falls, the son of George H. Bryan Sr. and Leona (Broihier) Bryan. He was united in marriage to Mary Jean Vinney May 27, 1954, in Waukon, IA. He worked as a truck driver at Arthur Overgaard in Elroy and then a certified Ford mechanic at Messic Auto Repair in Douglas, WY, and Millis Brothers Ford in Black River Falls. Injuries from a trucking accident forced him to retire early.

Wayne enjoyed working on vehicles and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed trading relics with his family members. Wayne also enjoyed playing guitar, singing, and playing crazy eights with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; nine children: Lynette (Rod) Canfield of Colfax, Wayne (Becky Bartche) Bryan Jr., of Douglas, WY, Jane Bryan of Neillsville, Beverly (Mike) Bettencourt of Black River Falls, Jeff (Patty) Bryan of Neillsville, Jim (Lisa) Bryan of Neillsville, Brenda (Matt) Gallagher of Douglas, WY, and Mike (Jessie Kreitlow) Bryan of Neillsville; 28 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; five brothers: Robert (Berta) Bryan of Neillsville, Donald Bryan of Neillsville, Del (Joyce) Bryan of Glenrock, WY, Joe Bryan of Neillsville, and David (Betty) Bryan of Neillsville; four sisters: Susie Guetchow of Beloit, Jeannie (Ron) Yankee of Round Lake, IL, Judy Bryan of Bangor, ME, and Bonnie (Joe) Ferraro of Neillsville. Wayne is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr., and Leona Bryan and four siblings: Viola Larson, George Bryan, Jr., John Bryan, and Dean Bryan.

A Memorial service for Wayne will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Kevin Newell will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Gesche Funeral Home.
