Zertler, Arthur W. Sr. (7 JUL 1929 - 30 NOV 2016)
Arthur W. Zertler Sr., 87, Township of Worcester, died on Wednesday, November
30, 2016, at the Howard Young Medical Center, Woodruff.
He was born on July 7, 1929, in Marshfield, Wi., the son of Arthur Adolph and
Genevieve (Bisenies) Zertler.
He spent his early life and schooling in Marshfield. Following his education he
was a co- owner operator of Stockgro Co., in Marshfield.
He was married to Shirley Hughes on April 17, 1958, in Marshfield. Following
their marriage they made their home in Phillips area.
He was employed at Johnson Mink Ranch, the Coca Cola Bottling Co., as a route
delivery driver, a distributor for Old Dutch, owned and operated City Liquor
Store, then Phillips Plastics Corp., until the time of his retirement in 1990.
He was a member of St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, the Fr. John Slowey K
of C Council #2963, where he was a 50 year member and an active member of
Alcohol Anonymous.
In his retirement he was a volunteer driver for the Aging and Transportation
Unit, and delivered meals to the Price County Sheriff’s Department.
He is survived by 1 son Arthur Wm. “Bill” (Colleen) Zertler, Jr. Menominee, Wi.,
by 2 daughters: Kathleen M. (Michael) Tingo, Medford, Wi., and Patricia A.
Zertler, Park Falls, by 1 stepson David A. (Carol) Beck, Plover, by 8
grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Shirley on Feb. 12, 2007,
by 1 infant daughter Mary Susan, by 1 sister Mary Platteter, and by 1 stepson
Daniel Beck.
A Knights of Columbus service will be held at 11:00A.M. on Saturday, December 3,
2016 at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church following by a memorial mass to
be celebrated by Fr. Gerald Hagen. Friends may call on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016
from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
Interment will take place in the Lakeside Cemetery, Phillips.
The Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips is in charge of the arrangements.
