Knetter, Grace B. (Wirkus) (13 MAR 1923 - 20 FEB 2011)
Grace B. Knetter, 87, Edgar died Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Aspirus Wausau
Hospital.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, February 24, 2011 at
St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. The Rev. Robert Streveler will preside. Burial
will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services all at
the church.
She was born March 13, 1923 in the town of Cassel, daughter of the late Anton
and Cecelia (Dahlke) Wirkus. On August 20, 1941 she married Andrew J. Knetter at
St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1981.
For many years Grace was a bookkeeper and clerk for the Edgar Cooperative,
Gambles and the Edgar IGA. Some of her favorite pastimes included cooking,
baking, sewing, gardening and treating everyone to her famous Christmas treats.
Survivors include her two children, Mary E. Kimball, Wausau and William (Sue)
Knetter, Edgar, four grandchildren, Timothy J. (Christina) Kimball, Christofer
W. Kimball, Paul Knetter and Dan Knetter, two great grandchildren, Brogan and
Cade Kimball, one sister, Genadean (Merlin) Schumacher, Marathon and one
sister-in-law, Marcia Wirkus, Edgar.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers,
Joseph, Willis and Robert Wirkus and one sister, Loretta Karlen and one
son-in-law, James Kimball.
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. John Catholic Church or
School.
