Panzigrau-Knutson, Mildred M. (Pilgrim) (19 MAR 1917 - 9 FEB 2009)
Mildred M. Panzigrau-Knutson, 91, Edgar, died Monday, February 9, 2009 at
Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 14, 2009 at St. John
Lutheran Church, W1000 Highway “N,” Edgar. Rev. Al Houts will officiate. Burial
will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral
Home, Edgar and again Saturday from Noon until time of services at the church.
She was born March 19, 1917 in the town of Wien, daughter of the late Gustave
and Mary (Flegle) Pilgrim. On June 1, 1940, she married Michael Panzigrau in the
town of Wien, he preceded her in death on November 23, 1982. On October 9, 1991,
she married Elmer Knutson in Sturgeon Bay, he preceded her in death on August
31, 2000.
Mildred taught Sunday school for many years at St. John Lutheran Church and was
also a member of the Ladies Aid. She was a homemaker and also worked in the
ginseng gardens in the Marathon and Edgar areas. Among her many interests, she
enjoyed reading the Bible, visiting with family and friends and dining out.
Survivors include, two sons, William (Sandra) Panzigrau, Wausau and John
(Jennifer) Panzigrau, Eau Claire; four grandchildren, Todd Panzigrau, Weston,
Tracey (Andrew) Baken, Wausau, Jami (Eddy) Van Dyck and Nathan Koger, both of
Eau Claire; four great grandchildren, Savannah and Sierrah Baken, Abrielle and
Liam Van Dyck; one sister, Mabel Punke, Edgar; three brothers, Elroy (Elaine)
Pilgrim, Edgar, Glen (Louise) Pilgrim, Piliger, Minn. and William (Adeline)
Pilgrim, Edgar; one sister-in-law, Tillie Hoernke, Milwaukee; and many nieces
and nephews.
Besides her parents and husbands, Michael and Elmer, she was preceded in death
by two brothers, Alvin and John Pilgrim; three sisters, Selma Hamann, Viola
Baumann and Elaine Beattie; and two brothers-in-law, Otto Panzigrau and William
Stendel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church,
Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services or the charity of the donor's choice.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of
Aspirus Hospice House and Ministry Home Care for the wonderful care given to
Mildred.
