Scidmore, Ella (13 JAN 1885 – 26 JAN 1968)
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 1968, at the First
United Church of Christ for Mrs. Ella Scidmore, 83, Colby, who died of a stroke
Friday in St. Joseph's Hospital at Marshfield. The Rev. Kenneth Dix officiated,
and burial was made in Colby Memorial Cemetery.
The former Ella Funk was born January 13, 1885, at Janesville, and received her
education there. Her marriage to Abner Scidmore, who preceded her in death march
1965, took place June 2, 1905 at Janesville.
The couple made their home in Janesville until 1918, when they moved to a farm
near Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.). In 1949 they retired and moved to the city of
Colby.
Mrs. Scidmore was a member of the Women's Guild of the First United Church of
Christ at Colby.
Survivors are four sons, Henry of Ogilvie, Minn.; Fred, Colby; Robert, Curtiss;
and Herbert, Marshfield; five daughters, Mrs. Gladys Blerke, Minneapolis, Minn.;
Mrs. Hal (Catherine) Gilberts, Alhambra, California; Mrs. Donald (Gertrude)
Schreiber, Stoughton; Mrs. Clifford (Ruth) Lindboe, Palatine, Illinois; and Mrs.
Vern (Evelyn) Sauter, Marshfield; 37 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Ten brothers preceded her in death.
