Howard L. Hahn, 70, Loyal, passed away on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, at Ministry
Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. Inurnment took place in Fort Snelling
National Cemetery, in Minneapolis, Minn., on Friday, Dec. 9.
Howard LeRoy Hahn was born on June 4, 1946, in Gaylord, Minn., to Rufus and Ruth
(nee Glander) Hahn. He was raised on the family farm and received his education
in Prior Lake, Minn., graduating from Prior Lake High School in 1964. Howard was
drafted into the U.S. Army on Nov. 8, 1965, and served in the Airborne Division.
After his honorable discharge on Nov. 7, 1967, Howard returned to Chaska, Minn.,
and drove truck for Berger Transport. He married Merchelle L. Larson on April 7,
1973, in Nashua, Iowa, at The Little Brown Church in the Vale. They later
divorced. Howard later went to work in Minneapolis for Honeywell, where he
worked for more than 20 years before retiring in 2004. He moved to Menahga,
Minn., where he enjoyed the peaceful outdoor life. Howard moved to central
Wisconsin in 2010, where he resided until his death. He was a member of the
V.F.W. and had many interests, but especially loved hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling
and football.
He is survived by three children: Michael Hahn of Minnesota, Justin (Valarie)
Hahn of Spencer, and Monica (Shane) Degenhardt of Loyal; six grandchildren; one
brother: Myron (Sandy) Hahn of Deer River, Minn.; one sister: Darlin (Johnny)
Tobeck of Grand Rapids, Minn.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Christin Hahn, on
Sept. 29, 1980.
