A 1965 graduate of the Owen-Withee High School has become the new "Miss Stevens Point."

Elizabeth Bowen, daughter of Mrs. Mary Bowen, Neillsville (Clark Co., Wis.), was conferred the title February 25, 1968 in a pageant held for 10 contestants.

She is a student at Wisconsin State University, Stevens Point, and a member of Alpha Phi Sorority. Besides a bouquet of 18 long stemmed roses presented her at the pageant, she received a $300 scholarship, new wardrobe, and an invitation to participate in the Miss Wisconsin pageant this summer at Oshkosh.

Elizabeth was honored at a reception at WSU following her coronation program. Earlier, she had participated in evening gown, swimsuit and talent competition.

Her talent selection was a folk song, "Time We've Had," for which she provided her own guitar accompaniment.

Miss Kathleen L. Negard, Stevens Point, was the first runner-up and winter of the "Miss Congeniality" trophy. Miss Susan Jean Buenger, Brookfield, third runner-up, and Miss Peggy Gay, Portage, fourth runner-up.

All of the 10 candidates are students at WSU, Stevens Point.
