Weideman, Alfred (Accidental Death – 2 December 2016)
By Todd Schmidt
A Unity man died Dec. 2, 2016, from injuries suffered in a Nov. 15 accident at
the village of Unity dump site.
According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Department, Alfred Weideman, 71, was
taking some yard waste to the dump site shortly after 3:30 p.m. He parked and
exited his truck, leaving the door open and the engine running.
The truck started to roll backwards, and Weideman tried to jump back inside to
stop it. Weideman fell to the ground and was run over by the truck as it
continued rolling. Weideman was severely injured in the chest and neck area.
The truck eventually hit a pile of gravel and stopped.
Weideman was transported by the Spirit Air helicopter to Ministry St. Joseph’s
Hospital in Marshfield. Alcohol does not appear to be factor in the accident.
It was reported that Weideman was having transmission problems with the truck
prior to the accident.
The Colby Fire and EMS responded to the scene with the Spirit Air helicopter,
the Colby/Abbotsford Police Department, and the Clark County Sheriff’s
Department.
