Fischer, Theodore “Ted” C. (22 AUG 1924 - 23 OCT 2010)

Theodore “Ted” C. Fischer, age 86, of N4906 Brush Creek Road, Medford, passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2010, at the Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center, Medford where he had resided for the past 6 days surrounded by his loving family and Hope Hospice.

His funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, October 28 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford, with Pastor David Clements officiating.

Interment will be at the Perkinstown Community Cemetery, Perkinstown, where full military honors will be performed by the Medford Area Military Honors Team.

The honorary pallbearer will be Jeff Conger. Active pallbearers are Aaron, Kevin and Jesse Fischer, Will Lane, John Weber and Fred Emstrom Jr.

Visitation will be at 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 27 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford and also from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, October 28 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford

Ted was born on August 22, 1924 in Perkinstown, to Henry G. and Carrie E. (Weihrouch) Fischer. He attended Roosevelt School in Perkinstown.

On February 11, 1946, in Winona, MN, Ted married Ella P. Emstrom, and she survives.

Ted served in the U.S. Army as a Special Honor Guard in Japan. He helped guard Emperor Hirohito from 1946 to 1947. He also shot over US soldiers’ gravesites at the US cemetery in Nagasaki. After completing his military service, Ted owned and operated a dairy farm in Perkinstown from 1947-1966. During this time he also did logging for numerous years. Ted also worked for Ed Hong Road Construction in Eau Claire as a heavy machine operator until his retirement in 1998. He also served as Supervisor for the Town of Grover for two years. Ted enjoyed hunting, woodworking, digging wild ginseng, fishing and making maple syrup.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Ella P. Fischer, Medford; his children Nancy (Bill) Sarring of Port Washington; Ted (Dawn) Fischer of Port Washington; and Ned (Janet) Fischer of Jim Falls; 7 grandchildren, Kimberly (Steve) Lane of Saukville; Kristian (John) Weber of Oshkosh; Aaron (Angela) Fischer of Eau Claire; Kevin (Michelle) Fischer of Chippewa Falls; Jesse, Alycia and Adriana Fischer of Port Washington; 15 great grandchildren, William, Samantha and Zoe Lane, Emily, Madison, Grace and Josie Weber, Rachel, Andrea, Alexandra and Riley Fischer; Geordynne Synder, Courtney, Sunshine and Preston Fischer; and also survived by Nephews, Nieces, Many Friends, Neighbors and Relatives.

Ted is predeceased by his parents, Henry G. and Carrie E. (Weihrouch) Fischer; a grandson Anthony Fischer in 1992; siblings Helen Winslow and Kenneth Fischer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Ted’s family to be designated at a later date.
