Burisek, Ruth (Macik) (20 MAY 1924 - 9 DEC 2016)
Ruth Burisek, 92, of Medford, stepped into eternity December 9, 2016 at Colonial
House Nursing Home under Hospice Care where she had resided the past two
years.
Ruth was born on May 20, 1924 to Jerry and Agnes (Cech) Macik.
In her teens Ruth went to Chicago to find a job during the depression years and
worked as a housekeeper, in a war plant, and as a phone operator. She was
married to Edward Burisek on November 22, 1947 who preceded her in death in
1962.
Ruth then moved back to Medford and worked for Eddie’s Bakery. She later owned a
dairy farm with her son and the Kritter Kountry Zoo where she enjoyed a variety
of animals, she especially loved caring for the deer fawns. Ruth was a member of
the Ole' Country Cowboy Church and she was a self-taught pianist and loved
playing hymns for church. She also blessed the people with her playing while at
the nursing home.
Ruth’s parents and grandparents were a big part of founding the Goodrich Baptist
Church (now Goodrich Community Church) in 1913.
Ruth is survived by one son, Rev. Kenneth (Jennifer) Burisek of Medford; two
grandchildren, Keith (fiancé Angela Van Loon) Burisek of Eau Claire and Holly
Burisek of Medford; and one brother, Ludwig Macik of Goodrich.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward; one sister, Martha Macik; a
brother and sister-in-law, Geroge and Julia Macik, along with nieces and nephews
and friends.
Funeral services for Ruth Burisek were held Tuesday, Dec. 13 with Pastor David
Elleman officiating at the Goodrich Community Church, N3258 Spring Drive,
Athens, WI 54411.
Family and friends called from at 10 a.m. until funeral service began at 11 a.m.
Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery II, Medford following the service.
