Churkey, Donald Ray (23 MAY 1965 – 09 APR 1968)
Donald Ray Churkey, two year and eleven month old son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles D.
Churkey, route 1, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), was laid to rest Friday afternoon,
April 12, 1968, in Riverside Cemetery.
The child's death was due to a brain hemorrhage and came upon him at home and
was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital at Marshfield at 3 a.m. Tuesday. He passed
away at 6 a.m. the same day.
Donald Ray was born May 23, 1965 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.
His sudden death is mourned by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. Churkey; one
sister, Diane, and two brothers, Duane and Glen, at home, and one brother,
Harvey, of Owen, and Kenneth, Spencer; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Purgett of
Owen, and Charles Churkey Sr. of Marshfield.
Funeral services were conducted at three o'clock Friday from the Hoeper and
Kraut Funeral Home, with Rev. L.A. Urman, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church,
Withee, officiating.
Pallbearers were Kenneth and Harvey Churkey, Maynard and Michael Purgett.
Flower girls were Mrs. Kenneth Churkey, Mrs. Maynard Purgett and Miss Jessica
Heldt.
Those from out of town attending the funeral were his Godparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Quelle of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. William Churkey, Marshfield; Mr. and
Mrs. Russell Foth and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Rue, all of Spencer; Mrs. Helda
Alexander of Milwaukee; Mrs. Walter Reinke and Mrs. Kate Beyer, Thorp; Mr. Dave
Churkey of Auburndale and Mr. and Mrs. Russell King and Mr. and Mrs. Dean
Marcott of Curtiss.
