Miller, Sharon Kay (29 AUG 1945 – 11 DEC 2016)
Sharon Kay Miller, 71, Eau Claire, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016, at
Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. A graveside service will be held in spring
2017 at Immanuel United Church of Christ, Greenwood.
Sharon was born with Down syndrome on Aug. 29, 1945, in Marshfield, to Arno and
Lillian (nee Decker) Miller. From year 1, she was a special family blessing,
facing the challenges of her life with tenacity and fortitude. She will always
be remembered for her unconditional love for others. Sharon grew up on a dairy
farm in Greenwood. In her early years, she helped her parents on the family farm
and attended West Eaton Grade School. The family moved to Loyal, and after her
father’s death, Sharon continued to live there with her mother. After her
mother’s death, Sharon moved to Eau Claire, where she has lived with her sister
Joanne, for the past 25 years. Sharon worked at REACH, Inc. for 15 years before
transferring to Grace Lutheran Adult Day Care. She loved the dedicated staff and
her friends at both facilities. Thank you for making Sharon’s life brighter.
Sharon loved to read and always enjoyed her monthly trips to the L.E. Phillips
Memorial Library in Eau Claire to select her stack of large-print books. She
also enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, doing word search puzzles, traveling with
Joanne, attending music events in Eau Claire, and playing with her cat (Mr.
O’Reilly).
Sharon is survived by her sister, Joanne, of Eau Claire; her cousins: Art
Wehrman of Madison, Jeanette Suda of Greenwood, and Barbara Noeldner of
Greenwood; and numerous extended family members and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her maternal grandparents: Meta and
Ferdinand Decker; and her paternal grandparents: Lydia and Albert Miller.
