Ayer, Walter Thomas (17 MAY 1891 – 22 MAY 1969)
Services were held Sunday, May 25 at the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby for
Walter Thomas Ayer, 78, of Spencer, who died Thursday afternoon, May 22, 1969,
at St. Joseph's Hospital at Marshfield of a cerebral hemorrhage. Burial was made
in the town of Beaver Cemetery and the Rev. Robert Sutherland officiated.
Mr. Ayer was born in the town of Unity (Clark Co., Wis.) May 17, 1891. He
married Esther Wittlinger at Loyal on October 7, 1913. A a young man he worked
for a year in Minneapolis, and following his marriage he began farming in the
town of Unity, just west of Riplinger, and spent the rest of his life there. In
addition to farming, he also did some logging.
Survivors, besides his wife, include four children, Lenore (Mrs. David
Vanderhoef) of Marshfield; Lucille (Mrs. Wm. Rahn) of Spencer; Melvin of Colby,
and Elaine (Mrs. Owen Hanson) of Marshfield; 13 grandchildren, 12
great-grandchildren; one brother, Owen of Madison, and one sister, Mrs. Dolly
Wisnosky of St. Paul.
