Junior Kiwanian Mindy Schoengarth (December - 2016)

December Junior Kiwanian

Mindy Schoengarth

Serving the youth of the community, and helping to ensure they have the encouragement and support to meet life’s challenges, is a central focus of Kiwanis clubs across the nation. At the local level, clubs engage in activities and projects that help to carry out this mission. A good example of this commitment to our youth is the Junior Kiwanian program, which has been an on-going feature of the club for more than 50 years.

The Neillsville Kiwanis Club is pleased to have Mindy Schoengarth as its Junior Kiwanian for the month of December. She is the daughter of Alan and Tina Schoengarth and is a senior at Neillsville High School. She was introduced to club members by Kiwanian Herman Seebandt at the Dec. 5 meeting.

Like many of our featured students, Schoengarth has been a three-sport participant all four years. She earned Cloverbelt all-conference honors last year in basketball and is the current team captain. She was this year’s team captain in volleyball and made all-conference. For two years, she competed in softball, then switched to track and field where she was a member of last year’s conference champion 4x200 relay team.

Extra-curricular activities include solo and ensemble, participation in last year’s musical, Being Leaders and Standing Tall (BLAST), Youth Options, choir, and involvement with church groups. Additionally, Schoengarth has worked at the Neillsville Country Club, and currently waitresses at Schmitty’s.

Following graduation in the spring, this highly-motivated student plans to further her education at UW-La Crosse, where she hopes to major in biology.

The Junior Kiwanian program of the Neillsville Kiwanis Club gives recognition to outstanding senior students, provides an introduction to the concept of a service organization and emphasizes active participation in the community throughout the lifespan.

The members of the Neillsville Kiwanis Club welcome Mindy Schoengarth as Junior Kiwanian and look forward to her participation in their December meetings.
