Seaman Jame E. Mohr, USN, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marlyn E. Mohr of route 1,
Stanley, Wis., is serving aboard the destroyer USS McKean off the coast of South
Vietnam.
As a crew member he helped this Seventh Fleet destroyer use its speed and range
to hit enemy positions along the South Vietnamese coast, 150 miles south of
DaNang.
Operating in support of the 173rd Army Airborne Brigade near Tern Quan, McKean's
five-inch guns poured a barrage of shells into an enemy held area.
According to an airborne spotter calling in the rounds, enemy fire was silenced.
