According to reports John Suda of Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), in company with
some bear hunters from Hawkins, had a narrow escape when he shot a large bear
while hunting one days las week in the area near Price Creek, southeast of
Winter.
The large bear was treed by hounds and shot out of the tree by Suda. He went up
to the bear and it suddenly came to life and grabbed him by the heel of his
boots.
The hounds then jumped the bear, as the arrest of the hunter came upon the scene
and pumped another shot into it. The bear dressed out at 425 pounds.
