Two Local Garages Entered By Burglars Monday Night
Marathon county authorities are investigating a series of burglaries in the
county two places were entered in Abbotsford some time Monday night last week.
The Sebold Chevrolet garage was entered by breaking a window in the front door.
Two U.S. Royal tires, a Delco 6-volt battery and a car radio from a 1959
Chevrolet car were taken.
At the Motor Inn Garage, the cars stored there were ransacked and an apron was
taken from the glove department of a car belonging to Mrs. Sophie Pieper. The
invoice machine in the garage was pried with a screw driver and a price list
book was taken.
The burglars were almost nabbed at Zunker’s Garage at the junction of Highways
92 and 97 after they broke a pane of glass. The intercom system between the
garage and the home of its owner, Arnold Zunker, was on but before Zunker could
get out to the garage, he saw a car speeding toward Wausau.
Three silver dollars were taken from a cash register in the Verner McNeight
implement store located near this junction.
Nothing was apparently taken from two cars which were ransacked at the Highway
Auto Service at the same intersection, according to Undersheriff Louis Gainoli.
