Romig, Doris (Kolecheck) (14 MAR 1932 - 21 DEC 2016)
Doris Romig, 84 of Gilman, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 21st,
2016 at her home.
She was born on March 14, 1932 in Rib Lake to the late Frank and Evelyn
(Carlson) Kolecheck. Doris was raised in the area and graduated from Rib Lake
High. She went on to
Taylor County Normal School where after graduation moved to and taught 1st grade
in
Gilman.
When Doris moved to Gilman she met the love of her life Theodore Romig. The
couple was united in marriage on August 4th, 1956 and was inseparable until
Ted’s death in 2010.
Doris raised her children, Gregg and Sandy and worked in the family partnership
Romig’s Hardware still active waiting on customers until her death. Doris was an
active member of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church-Gilman and the ladies
guild.
She is survived by her children, Gregg (Shannon) Romig of Hudson and Sandy
(Jerry) Sromek of Gilman, her five grandchildren, Megan and Bryce Sromek and
Tyler, Conor and Madison Romig, two brothers, Francis (Annabelle) Kolecheck of
Mt. Pleasant and Mike (Phyllis) Kolecheck of Rib Lake and one sister, Barb
Bawiec of Hartford.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ted, grandson Garren Romig
and four brothers, Roger and Edward Schopp and Joe and David Kolecheck.
A funeral mass will be held at 11AM on Thursday, December 29th at Saints Peter &
Paul Catholic Church-Gilman with Father Madanu Lourdu officiating. Burial will
follow in Parish Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 PM at the Gilman Funeral Home on Wednesday, December
28th with a 4 PM Parish Rosary and continuing at Church Thursday morning one
hour prior to
services at the church.
