Winger, Jerry G. (6 MAY 1969 - 23 DEC 2016)
Jerry G. Winger, Jr., age 47, of Medford, passed away on Dec. 23, 2016, at
Aspirus Care and Rehab Center, Medford, where he had resided since October 3,
2016.
Jerry Junior, aka “Punky”, was born on May 6, 1969 to Jerry Sr. and Janice
(Morris) Winger. He began his life in the Hannibal and Gilman areas, going to
Special Ed in Lublin, Gilman, Cornell, and ended up graduating from Lake
Holcombe High School. Punky loved his cowboy hats, his badges, his guns, Chuck
Norris, big belt buckles, and cowboy boots. He enjoyed the hunting crew at deer
season, going out with Uncle Lem Morris, Grandpa Bob Morris, Pete Skille, Dick
Conlan and all the group that managed to gather around the campfire to spin
yarns and B.S. Punk also enjoyed going bear baiting with Grandpa and Uncle Lem
and being one of the guys.
After graduation, Punky started working at Black River Industries in Medford,
making new friends, enjoying the outings and all the art projects done for the
Taylor County Fair. Punky was a 26 year employee of BRI and proud of his
certificates and anniversary shirts and jackets. One of his treasures from that
time was a picture of him and Leroy Butler, thanks to Tammy. Punky can now spend
endless time drinking beer, smoking cigars and chasing women.
Punky is survived by his parents; his sister, Liz (John) Drager of Medford;
nephews, Donovan Turek of Gilman, Bo Turek of Medford, and Dakota Drager of
Medford; as well and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of Punky's life will be held at a later date.
Cremation Society of Wisconsin, Altoona, is assisting the family with
arrangements.
