Meerstein, Mildred A. (Fenner) (28 OCT 1916 - 12 FEB 2011)

Mildred A. Meerstein, age 92, of 2727 North Victoria Street, Roseville, MN, a former Town of Deer Creek Resident, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2011, at the Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 18 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford, with Pastor Cathy Hinman officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Westboro, WI.

Pallbearers are David VanDoorn, Jeffrey Jensen, Todd, Timothy, Richard and Matthew Meerstein.

Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 18 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford.

Mildred was born on June 3, 1918, in Dolan, South Dakota, to Herman and Ella (Huebner) Fenner. She attended West Sarona Public School in Sarona, WI.

On June 1, 1938, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Rice Lake, she was married to William W. Meerstein. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1965.

Mildred worked at the Medford Laundry for 12½ years, she then worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield as Head of Linen Delivery for 22 years. Mildred enjoyed embroidery, crocheting and gardening.

She is survived by her children, Lillian P. Keller of Quincy, IL; Marcella I. Meerstein of Minneapolis, MN; Helen M. (Robert) Kellerman of St. Paul, MN; Kathryn A. (Joseph) Jensen of Sandstone, MN; Robert E. (Elizabeth) Meerstein of Cornell, MI; and Special Friend: Doris Johnson of Minneapolis, MN; 14 Grandchildren; 27 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Great Grandchild.

Mildred is also survived by siblings Margie (Marvel) Kleinholz of Chicago, IL; Alice (Yale) Sherman of Minneapolis, MN; Ruby Stronsky of Fargo, ND; Herman (Cecelia) Fenner of North Branch, MN; Evelyn Engdahl of North Branch, MN; James (Luella) Fenner of Isanti, MN; and Robert (Mary) Fenner of Temecula, CA; Brother-In-Law Robert Juza, Sr. of Rice Lake, WI; and Sister-In-Law Laura Fenner of Two Harbors, MN.

She is predeceased by her husband William W. Meerstein; her parents Herman and Ella (Huebner) Fenner; children William M. and Donald E. Meerstein; siblings Harold Fenner, Dorothy Juza, Florence Ranney, Vernon Fenner; also 4 siblings in infancy.

The staff of Golden Living Center/Lake Ridge, Roseville, MN for their wonderful care (where Mildred was a resident for 3½ years). Also to the palliative care team of Health Partners and to the staff of Regions Hospital, St. Paul, MN for their compassionate care.
