Landry, Mr./Mrs. Wallace J. (Gold – 16 NOV 1968)
One week after the armistice was signed 50 years ago, Lt. Wallace J. Landry and
Cleo Krempter were married near a military camp in Rockford, Illinois. On
November 16, 1968, the couple, who live at 107 Park Lane, Oak Ridge, Tennessee,
observed their golden wedding anniversary.
The Landry's moved to Oak Ridge several years ago from Port Wing, Wisconsin, to
live near their son. Wallace Landry was Clark County's Agricultural Agent from
1929 to 1941, and later a Vocational Agriculture teacher and Veteran on the Farm
Trainer in Port Wing. Mrs. Landry was a teacher, too, giving piano lessons in
her home for many years.
One of Landry's major efforts as Agricultural Agent was to bring a rural
Electrification project to Clark County. His work in the 30's set a pattern for
later projects in the state.
Mr. Landry was born and raised on his parents' farm 3 miles south of Thorp
(Clark Co., Wis.).
Their son, John W. Landry, 105 Park Lane, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Y12
plant engineer, who has been an Oak Ridge resident since 1944, will join his
parents in a family dinner to honor the anniversary.
The senior Landry's have one daughter, Lenore, who is a textile and clothing
specialist at the University of Wisconsin, the same institution where her father
received both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees.
