Annala, Isabella “Billie” (Manninen) (15 JUL 1919 - 9 JAN 2017)
Isabella “Billie” Annala, age 97, of Rib Lake, passed away on Monday, Jan. 9,
2017 at Golden Living Center, Rib Lake where she had resided for the past year.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12 at St. John’s Lutheran Church
in Rib Lake with Pastor James Langebartels officiating.
Visitation was held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Rib Lake from 9 a.m. until
the time of the service on Thursday. Interment took place at Leavitt Creek
Cemetery, Township of Hill.
Pallbearers were Fred Ebert, Gary, Eric, Adam, David and Jim Annala.
Billie was born on July 15, 1919 in Westboro to the late Maria Watanen and
Heikki “Henry” Manninen. She attended Westboro/Rib Lake elementary schools.
On June 30, 1951 in Detroit, Mich. she married Toivo Annala and he preceded her
in death in 1982. After their marriage, they lived in Detroit where she cooked
at Stauffer’s Restaurant for a period of time. They moved to the Westboro area
in 1953 where they farmed. In 1957 they moved to the Rib Lake area where they
farmed and she worked at Glovette Shoe Factory for a period of time. Billie
enjoyed horseback riding, rosemalling, traveling to craft/rosemalling shows and
landscape painting. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Rib Lake
since 1957 and its Ladies Aid of which she was president for many years.
Billie is survived by her son, Gary (Annis) Annala of Glendale Heights, Ill.;
grandchildren Eric (Carrie) and Adam (Hina) Annala; and great-grandson, Alex
Paul-Annala.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sister,
Hanna Wayrynen, Mary Bergeron, Geraldine Kalander, Miriam Annala; brothers,
Henry, Joseph, and David Manninen.
The family requests memorial contributions be given to St. John’s Lutheran
Church, Rib Lake in her name.
