Dorava, Robert L. (24 JUL 1939 - 18 APR 2012)

Robert L. Dorava, 72, of Merrill, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Kennedy Park Medical & Rehabilitation Center in Schofield under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services.

He was born July 24, 1939 in Perkinstown, WI to the late Fred & Julia (Redwine) Dorava. Bob married Sue Heise on September 3, 1966 in Merrill. She survives.

Bob graduated from Gilman High School, class of '57. He joined the U.S. Navy after graduation and served as a Machinist Mate from 1957-1961. Bob then attended North Central Technical College where he was enrolled in the Police Science program. He served as a police officer for over 20 years in Medford and Merrill as well as Marathon County until his retirement. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He was an outstanding marksman.

Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Sue Dorava, Merrill; daughter: Lori (Roger) Voelker and their children: Olivia & Emma Sue of Milwaukee, WI; son: David (Javier) Dorava, Minneapolis, MN; brothers & sisters: Elmer (Bette Mae) Dorava, James (Marge) Dorava, Deloris Larson, Clarice Heier, Fred (Betty) Dorava and Nancy Dorava. 13 nieces and nephews, and mother-in-law: Delores Heise.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, Gilbert Heise, and brothers-in-law, George Larson and Dick Heier.

Burial will follow at Merrill Memorial Park.
