Michalewicz, Stanley J. (15 OCT 1923 - 25 FEB 2015)

Stanley J. Michalewicz, 91, Wausau, formerly of Edgar, died Wednesday February 25, 2015 at the Hospice House.

He was born October 15, 1923, in Chicago, son of the late Joseph and Anna (Zajdel) Michalewicz. On December 27, 1952, he married RoseAnne Cooney at St. Mary Catholic Church, Stanley. She preceded him in death November 27, 2014.

Stanley worked for 3M and Minnesota Mining but he farmed in the town of Cassel for the majority of his life. He grew ginseng and raised pigs and mink. He enjoyed traveling, visiting Poland, Ireland and every state in the United States except Alaska and Hawaii. Stanley also enjoyed trips to the casino with RoseAnne and friends.

Survivors include six children; Sally (Jerry) Artus, Marathon, John (Terri) Michalewicz, Newnan, Georgia, Karen (David) Caviggiola, Chassell, Michigan, David (Mary) Michalewicz, Edgar, Kathy (Randy) Jansen, Marathon and Richard (Linda) Michalewicz, Edgar; grandchildren, Lindsey Buettner, Krystal Karlen, Stephanie Jorgenson, Larry Karlen, Erin Michalewicz, Caleb Michalewicz, Justin Michalewicz and Trevor Michalewicz; great-grandchildren, Lance Caviggiola, Atreya Welch and Jadon Przybylski; son-in-law, Ronald Karlen; sisters, Frances Petrowski, Racine, Florence Weisenberger, Marathon and Agnes (Jack) Needham, Chicago; brother, Edward (Mary Lou) Michalewicz, Las Vegas.

Besides his parents and wife, RoseAnne, he was preceded in death by infant daughter, Mary, daughter, Lynn Karlen, sisters, Lottie Burger, Marie Simon, Sophie Stanley and Josephine Adamski.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, town of Cassel. Friends may call Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Harmony Terrace Court for their compassionate care over the last several years and Aspirus Hospice House for their wonderful care over the last several weeks.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Stanley's name.

RoseAnne was waiting you're not alone,
Your soft whistling tune we'll always hear,
Just one of many memories to keep you near."
